Marquette, MI – October 14th, 2025 – Another week of high school football has concluded and teams are making their final push to secure spots in the playoffs. Unfortunately, the mediaBrew teams did not perform as well as they’d hoped this with only two weeks remaining until the postseason.
The only winner from this past weekend was the Marquette Sentinels, who hosted Petoskey and secured a solid 27-17 victory. Ford Richardson was outstanding and played a key role in Marquette’s success. Richardson’s highlights included a 73-yard rushing touchdown where he tight-roped the sideline, another 30-yard rushing touchdown, and a 32-yard passing touchdown to Pierce Pittsley. On the defensive side, he also recorded an interception.
The Menominee Maroons hosted the Negaunee Miners in an anticipated matchup. With an impressive undefeated record, the Maroons set the tone from the opening whistle, showcasing their preparation and determination to extend their winning streak. Their offense executed plays with precision, capitalizing on every opportunity. In contrast, the Miners, still missing QB Kyle Waterman, struggled to find a rhythm and faced significant challenges against the relentless Maroon attack. Despite their best efforts, Negaunee couldn’t match the intensity and skill of the Maroons, suffering a decisive 40-12 loss.
Finally, the Ishpeming Hematites hosted St. Ignace on Saturday. From the start, this game was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams combining for a total of sixty-six points. At the end of the second quarter, during a fourth-down play, St. Ignace decided to go for it but Grady Gauthier intercepted the pass. Unfortunately, he landed awkwardly and was unable to finish the game, returning for the second half on crutches. The Hematites had to rely more on Dax Kakkuri and Derek Meyer after losing Gauthier, who has rushed for over 1,500 yards this season. Despite their efforts in the second half, the Hematites ultimately fell short, losing the game 36-30.
