Marquette, MI – July 9th, 2025 – This year’s Wimbledon has broken many records and seen many upsets. With an all-time high of 35 U.S. players (19 women and 16 men) who entered Wimbledon this year, the largest American contingent since 1999. Serena Williams was the last American to win it back in 2016. For the men, it was Pete Sampras who won back in 2000. With the Americans having a record of participants, it gives them their best chance to win it.
Taylor Fritz and Amanda Anisimova both made their first Wimbledon semifinals and are set to play in the coming days. It has been an emotional ride this past year for Anisimova, who has been dealing with injuries. After making the semifinals, she had this to say, “This feels like a dream, Wimbledon has always been my favorite”. She will have to take down #1 ranked, Aryna Sabalenka, to move on.
Taylor Fritz, who was eliminated in the first round of the French Open a month ago, had to prove he’s better than that. Coming in, Fritz was the highest-ranked male for the Americans at number five. He had some closer matches at the start, but has been cruising ever since. His path will get much harder as he will battle with two-time, back-to-back Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz, who many believe is the favorite to win it again. In Fritz’s quarterfinal, he landed 20 plus aces and won over 80% of his first serve points.
If you want to catch these players in action, Amanda Anisimova will play tomorrow at 8:30 AM, while Fritz will have to wait until Friday; no time has been determined yet for that match.
