Calumet, MI – February 7, 2025 – The Marquette High School Hockey Sentinels hit the ice tonight with their full roster for the first time this season, looking to shake off last week’s tough loss against Cranbrook and secure a win against the Calumet Copper Kings. With the team back at full strength, Marquette High School Hockey played with determination, but the Copper Kings proved to be a tough opponent. Fans tuned in live on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 & 99.9, where Joe Gaffaney and Coach Larry Carey delivered every thrilling moment of the game.

First Period
Marquette came out strong, setting the pace early. The Sheldon lineup hit the ice to start the game, and it didn’t take long for Marquette High School Hockey to capitalize on a power play opportunity. Evan Mattila made a crisp pass to Trey Savola, who buried the puck in the net, giving the Sentinels the first goal of the game and an early lead.

Second Period
The Copper Kings responded in the second period, showing that they weren’t going to let Marquette High School Hockey maintain control easily. Calumet found the back of the net to even the score, turning up the intensity on both sides. Marquette fired shot after shot, creating multiple rebounds, but the Calumet goalie stood strong. Late in the period, a loose puck slipped between Parker Nevenhoven’s pads, giving Calumet the lead heading into the final period.

Third Period
Both teams played with relentless energy, keeping the pressure high and forcing each other to stay on their toes. Marquette High School Hockey fought hard to find an equalizer, but the Copper Kings’ defense held firm. Despite a strong effort until the final buzzer, Marquette couldn’t break through, and Calumet secured the narrow victory.
