Detroit, MI – January 31, 2025 – The Marquette High School Hockey Sentinels took the ice at the Kennedy Ice Arena tonight, kicking off their appearance in the Trenton Hockey Showcase with a matchup against the Trenton Trojans. After a tough loss to Brighton last weekend, Marquette High School Hockey was determined to come back stronger, but Trenton’s aggressive play and solid goaltending made it a difficult night. Fans tuned in live on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 & 99.9, where Joe Gaffaney and Coach Larry Carey provided full coverage of the game.
Game Recap
First Period
Marquette High School Hockey came into the game with high energy, but Trenton quickly took control, scoring the first goal of the night. The Trojans took possession, bouncing the puck off the far-side corner before slipping it past Marquette goalie Parker Nevenhoven. Shortly after, Trenton attempted another shot from the right, but Nevenhoven made a brilliant save, keeping Marquette High School Hockey within reach. The Sentinels held their defensive ground, but offensive opportunities remained limited.

Second Period
In the second period, Marquette High School Hockey struggled to find momentum, as Trenton’s defense shut down their scoring chances. Nevenhoven made several critical saves, keeping the Sentinels in the game, but Trenton’s offensive pressure resulted in two more goals. With just 22 seconds left, Marquette High School Hockey made a strong push, but they couldn’t break through before the buzzer.

Third Period
Despite being down, Marquette High School Hockey came out fighting in the third period, generating multiple scoring opportunities. However, Trenton’s goaltender proved tough to beat, stopping every shot. The Trojans executed a well-planned shift play, netting two more goals to extend their lead. The Sentinels showed heart and resilience, but they were unable to put the puck in the net before the final horn sounded.
Final Score: Marquette 0 – 4 Trenton
