Saginaw, MI – December 6, 2024 – The Marquette High School Hockey team is back on track! After a hard-fought win earlier this week against the Calumet Copper Kings, the Sentinels kept their momentum alive in a stunning performance tonight against the Saginaw Heritage Hawks. Broadcasting live from the Saginaw-Bay Ice Arena, Joe Gaffaney and Larry Carey called all the action on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 & 99.9.
First Period:
Marquette came out firing on all cylinders, delivering a show-stopping first period. Lucas Belkowskii opened the scoring with a precise top-corner shot, setting the tone for the game. Moments later, Seth Sandstrom and Jack Pond executed a flawless play, adding another goal to Marquette’s tally. Easton Bal followed with a beautiful shot, further securing the Sentinels’ lead. With just three minutes remaining in the period, Brody Sheldon found the back of the net, bringing the score to an impressive 4-0. This dominant offensive display marked the first time this season the Sentinels scored more than three goals in a single period, leaving fans thrilled and hopeful for more.

The Sentinels showed no signs of slowing down in the second period. Brody Sheldon struck again early, sneaking the puck past Saginaw’s goalie to bring the score to 5-0. Marquette’s offense continued to shine, with Sheldon racking up three additional goals before the period ended, securing an 8-0 mercy-rule victory. This commanding win not only showcased Marquette’s offensive prowess but also emphasized their strategic teamwork and determination to build a new winning streak.
