Marquette SkaterFirst Period: The game opened up with Marquette’s first line playing confident and playing well. Byron Center would strike first however when they snuck the puck by Redmen Brennan Hakkola at 11:51 going up 1-0 against the Redmen. Byron Center’s forecheck was very good and they were able to cause turnovers in their favor. The Bulldogs would score once more before the period ends and go into the locker room up, 2-0.
S.O.G.: Marquette 6, Byron Center 13
Second Period: Both teams came back from intermission showing strong play. It was very back and forth with each team putting forth plenty of shots to keep the goaltenders busy. The Redmen would cash one in when Ethan Phillips scored with the dish from Sides and Potulny to bring the score to, 2-1.
With under a minute left in the period Byron Center was able to bring their lead back to two. They peppered Brennan Hakkola with rebound shots and eventually got one to go through for the score. The Redmen head back to the locker room still down by two.

Redmen vs BulldogsThird Period: Marquette came out looking to fight their way back in this game. The Redmen had plenty of good looks but weren’t able to put any in. Byron Center had a power play opportunity and weren’t able to cash in either.
At 9:50 Byron Center would build on to their lead to go up by three goals. The goal would bring the score to 4-1 with Marquette trying to rally a comeback. The Bulldogs would bury the dagger in the Redmen when they would score yet again and basically solidify their way to the finals.
Final: Byron Center 5, Marquette 1

This will end the Marquette Redmen 20-21 season with a 14-6 record. The Redmen have the future to look forward to with a lot of returning players, but will have to address some key positions next year. The Byron Center Bulldogs will go on and play the winner of Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice vs Trenton game in the state final.
