The Marquette Redmen are in Sault Ste Marie this weekend at the Chi Mukwa Big Bear Arena. The arena boasts an Olympic-sized ice sheet, so plenty of room for the Redmen to cruise to their 4-0 victory.
And cruise they did. The Redmen took off like a shot out of a gun to get a jump on an early lead against the Huskies. Marquette sent a message with two shots and two goals within the first five minutes.
Sean O’Connor scored the first goal with assistance from Gaetanno Cammarata for a 1-0 lead.
Tanner Phillips was up next with a goal assisted by Kobie Guidebeck and Ansel Frost for the 2-0 lead.

The Huskies, a fairly young team, struggled to gain any traction against Marquette. The second period rolled out similarly to the first.
An Ansel Frost goal kicked it off to improve the Redmen to 3-0 over the Huskies.
Kobie Guidebeck followed suit with a full-strength goal, skating from coast to coast, for a 4-0 lead.
The Huskies had a chance to begin to even out the score during a power play, but could not find the back of the net. Marquette maintained their 4-0 lead going into the final period.
A chance for the Huskies opened up late in the third period after a couple of Redmen penalties made it five on three in favor of Port Huron Northern.
Brennen Hakkola passed the test with flying colors, however, as Marquette came back up to full strength and no Husky goals got around the sophomore goalie.

It’s safe to say Marquette is on a winning streak as tonight’s victory is their 11th in a row.
The Redmen will be back on the ice tomorrow, Saturday, January 26th on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9. Tune in for pregame at 12:30 pm, the puck drops at 1:00 pm.
