Marquette, MIJanuary 10, 2018 – The Marquette Redmen Hockey team won 7-3 over the Grand Haven Buccaneers tonight on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.

There’s never a dull moment with Redmen hockey, but Marquette took it to the next level in the first period of their bout against the Buccaneers.

Four shots produced four goals for the Redmen as they led 4-0 early in the game.

Kobie Guidebeck found the back of the net first with Tanner Phillips and Ryan Baldwin assisting.

Thomas Dunleavy took his shot and scored next. A Ryan Baldwin goal followed in short order.

Finally, Guidebeck scored his second goal with help from Baldwin to find that 4-0 lead.

The Buccaneers shook off their daze from the flurry of Redmen goals to score one of their own, and the score settled at 4-1 for a spell.

If you thought the Redmen would rest on their laurels though, you were wrong. Nick Leafers scored a goal with an assist from Hogan Nemetz to bring the score to 5-1 at the buzzer.

The early minutes of the second period proved to be as exciting as the first.

Two more Redmen goals, one from Sean O’Connor and one from Tanner Phillips, came straight away. The Buccaneers answered with a goal of their own to bring the score to 7-2, the Redmen still well in the lead.

Marquette struggled with penalties in the latter half of the period, but stayed on top going into the third.

A goal by Buccaneer Tristen Goss started off an otherwise quiet third period to settle the score at 7-3.

Though the intensity of play dropped off considerably early into the second period, the Redmen skated easily to their 7-3 victory over the Buccaneers.

The Redmen will face off against Alpena Friday morning, January 11th on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9 and 103 FXD. Pregame starts at 11:00 am, the puck drops at 11:30.
