Harris, MI – May 23, 2018 – The Island Resort Championship at Sweetgrass is set to make its return for the 8th year June 22-24. The Symetra Tour features promising young golfers looking turn their dream of playing on the LPGA Tour into a reality. The top ten money winners on the Symetra Tour earn their LPGA Tour Card each year.
The Island Resort & Casino and Sweetgrass plays host to one of the greatest tournaments on the Symetra Tour. The women golfers have consistently named this tournament the highlight of their tour. They say hospitality by the tribe, as well as the golf course and casino complex employees is phenomenal.
On Tuesday the Island Resort & Casino hosted media day, where we got a chance to chat with Shannon Fish, Symetra Tour golfer, and Tim Kramer, Director of Tournament Business Affairs for the Symetra Tour.
Shannon Fish is a veteran on the Symetra Tour and former contestant on the wildly popular “Big Break” Series on the Golf Channel. Shannon hails from Spring, Texas and was a collegiate golfer at the University of Texas. Shannon has 7 career Top 10 finishes, with two of them coming at the Island Resort Championship at Sweetgrass. Shannon discussed what she likes so much about this tournament and how being a “Big Break” contestant has helped her in her career.
