Escanaba, MI December 19th, 2017 : The Marquette Redmen triumphed against the Escanaba Eskymos winning 76-53 on Hawaiian night on a game streamed live on foxsportsmarquette.com. Marquette entered the game with a 1-4 record after a weekend split in the Traverse City Invitational Tournament while Escanaba entered the matchup with a 4-0 overall record and are 1-0 in conference.

After losing in heartbreaking fashion to Traverse City West 52-50, the Redmen know that this game was a must-win situation if they want to stay alive in conference play before they dig themselves to large of a hole. Coach Brad Nelson emphasized ball movement and scoring distribution of scoring after their weekend in Traverse City and that message seemed to click in the first half of today’s action as Marquette got off to a red-hot start as they jumped to a 44-26 lead over the Eskymos. Marquette moved the ball well as multiple Redmen found themselves on the scoreboard before the half.

Much of the same story continued in the 2nd half as Marquette’s hot shooting continued. Tray McFerrin led the way for the Redmen with 21 points for the game, followed closely by Marius Grazulis who finished with 19 points. Neither team found themselves in foul trouble and Marquette was also able to minimize on their turnovers. Ryan Robinette was the leading Eskymo scorer, finishing with 24 points.

The Marquette Redmen are back in action Friday December 23rd as they take on the Negaunee Miners in an away game starting at 7:30 pm with pregame coverage beginning at 7pm. Be sure to listen live at Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 and 99.9 and online at foxsportsmarquette.com
