Marquette, MI – 12/1/17 – The Marquette Redmen Hockey team are getting set to head to Sault Ste Marie today for match-ups with Utica Eisenhower tonight and Romeo tomorrow. Redmen broadcaster John Thomsen stopped in to talk about the first two games of the season against Houghton and Escanaba. The Redmen are 2-0 on the year and playing with solid goal-tending. John and his broadcast partner Joe Gaffney will be on air tonight at 5:30 pm as the Redmen start the Sault Ste Marie road-trip.

The Detroit Red Wings once again struggled to keep the puck out of their own net falling to the Montreal Canadians 6-3 on Thursday night. Montreal was led by Brandon Gallagher who had two goals and an assist while captain Max Pacioretty also scored to give head coach Claude Juilen his 100th victory as head coach. The Red Wings and Canadians play once again tonight in a home and home series. The Red Wings are currently on a 6 game losing streak.

Longtime board-op here at Great Lakes Radio, Jeremy Stankewitz filled in this morning for Luke Ghiardi as Luke hit the road to Petoskey for the Marquette Redettes basketball tournament. Stankewitz is moving to Tennessee in two weeks and we thank him for the wonderful friendship and job he has done here at the station.
