Marquette, MI – When March come around every year it fills everyone with excitement, closer to spring, Easter is on its way but nothing compares to March Madness Basketball. A term derived back in the 1500’s as the time where bunny rabbits found their mates and went crazy. Today the tournament begins with a number of games, each year we all fill out those brackets which we think is the correct one in hopes of maybe winning a bet or proving to your friends, you’re the guru of college basketball. Through it all, we’ve learned that no one is ever correct, in fact today about 30 million brackets will be broken and left for the trash bin, very few move on to the second round with that perfect bracket. This afternoon it all begins, the 68 teams and four divisions will kick off at noon. From here on out its only the race to the National Championship.
The Detroit Pistons were beat last night by the Utah Jazz 97-83. Jazz guard Gordon Hayward led the way with 25 points and eight rebound followed by Rudy Gobert with 12 points. The Pistons were led by Aaron Baynes who had 12 points and 12 rebounds. The Pistons are now in the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference and host the Toronto Raptors on Friday.
The Detroit Red Wings season is finally almost over as they fell to the Colorado Avalanche last night 3-1. Andreas Athanasiou was the lone Red Wings to score and Jimmy Howard made 26 saves. The Red Wings 9 game point streak was snapped thanks to Colorado’s Matt Duchene who scored for the first time in 12 games. The Red Wings now travel to Arizona for a match-up with the Coyotes tonight.
