MLB – The Detroit Tigers Open The Grapefruit League Season With A win

The Detroit Tigers used the long ball early and often as Detroit opened Grapefruit League play with a 15-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles in Lakeland yesterday.

Ian Kinsler hit a three-run homer in the second, Yoenis Cespedes made his Tigers debut with a grand-slam in the fourth and Aaron Westlake added a three-run shot in the sixth.

Kyle Lobstein got the win, giving up two hits and striking out one in two innings of work.

Infielder Nick Castellanos left the game in the second inning after he was hit on the left hand by a pitch from Ubaldo Jimenez. Castellanos did not return, but X-rays were negative.

The Tigers play the Orioles again this afternoon in Sarasota.

Anibal Sanchez is expected to get the start for Detroit, while Baltimore will counter with Kevin Gausman.
