Marquette Redmen Football (28) VS Kingsford Flivers (42) in Sixth Game of Season on Redmen Football Friday Night

Kingsford, Michigan – September 30th, 2016 – John, Pete, Ryan were in Kingsford for Marquette Redmen Football Night for their game against the Kingsford Flivers on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 & 99.9FM and Simulcast during the Big Game of the Week on 103-FXD. It was the sixth game of the season, and the Redmen looked to take home the win. John, Pete, and Ryan brought you their stats and predictions during the Honor Credit Union pregame show!
For the second game in a row, the Marquette Redmen received the kick off to start their game against the Kingsford Flivers. Marquette’s first drive was slowly ground down to a halt, and they were forced to turn control of the ball over to the Flivers. Midway through the first quarter, a great pass allowed Kingsford to score the first points of the game on a touchdown, and after a good extra point, the Flivers led 0-7. Marquette’s defense kicked in for the second half of the first quarter, and they held Kingsford off for the remainder of the quarter.
The Marquette Redmen fought hard in the first quarter, and they trailed a tough Kingsford team by just seven points to start the second. It continued to be a very defensive game, with both teams making huge plays on the defensive side of the ball. Kingsford eventually wore the Redmen down, and added another touchdown to their score, making it 0-14 midway through the second. Marquette had trouble keeping control of the ball, giving up two fumbles in the second quarter. Late in the first half, Kingsford added another touchdown to their total, taking advantage of the Redmen turnovers.

Kingsford Flivers: 21
The Marquette Redmen were having a tough time dealing with the tough offense from the Kingsford Flivers, and they added two quick scores early in the third quarter to make the difference between the two teams 0-35. Marquette seemed to have found a bit of their stride during halftime, and managed to hold back the Fliver from any further scoring throughout the rest of the third quarter. However, Marquette had a strong finish to the quarter, putting their first points of the game onto the scoreboard.
Kingsford held a firm lead going into the final quarter, but the Marquette Redmen were fighting hard to make a comeback. However, the Flivers were burning as much clock time as they could. Marquette continued to play well, adding another touchdown to their total, making it 13-35, with two-thirds of the final quarter remaining. As the final quarter wore on, the Redmen continued to fight back with another touchdown to make the score 21-35, but time was running out.
