JD Bombs Away, Sogard So Hot and Name Change

Marquette, MI – JD Martinez has been hot since coming off the disabled list batting .500 with five homers and eleven RBI. The Tigers needed his offense on Thursday afternoon, down 3-0 in the bottom of the third he provided a three run home run and Victor Martinez added a two run bomb to will the the Tigers to a 6-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Orioles Dylan Bundy allowed six runs on eight hits and Tigers Jordan Zimmermann improved his record to 4-2 allowing four runs in seven innings. The Tigers now turn their focus to the Texas Rangers for a three game series this weekend at home.

The Milwaukee Brewers continue to stay hot winning nine of their last eleven. Brewers Eric Sogard had another four hit game and the Brewers beat the San Diego Padres once again 4-2 to improve their record to 24-18 on the season. Brewers pitcher Zach Davies won his third straight start and Corey Knebel came in and struck out the side in the ninth. This weekend will be a major test as they travel to Wrigley Field to take on the Cubs.
