Gisele Talks About Tom’s Concussions

Tom Brady’s wife, Gisele Bundchen says he suffered a concussion last year: not only said he had a concussion, but seemed to stop just short of saying he has concussions quote, pretty much every season. Quote: “he had a concussion last year. He has concussions pretty much every…” then she stopped. And then she said, “I mean, we don’t talk about it. But he does have concussions. I don’t really think it’s a healthy thing for anybody to go through.”

Knowing the bleep storm that could result from something like that, why would she say it? And although the league is really late to the party on this issue. As concerned as it is about concussions, what’s it going to do if arguably the best player ever suffered one, and the team didn’t disclose it?

Let me hit each of those: why did she do it? Probably because she doesn’t want to grow old with some dude who can’t remember her or their kids’ names. Doesn’t want to get the call from him when he’s picking up his avocado ice cream and can’t remember how to get home. Or sits in a pitch black room 20 hours out of every day in absolute silence. Remember, Brady has said in the past, “if it were up to my wife she would have me retire today.”

So that’s why she said it. That’s what that’s about. She’s obviously concerned. She wants him to retire today and he keeps going on about how he’s going to play until he’s in his mid-forties or maybe even to fifty.

As for the concussion, I get that they keep this guy about as clean as you can; and he gets it out quickly about as consistently as you can; but he does take shots. And I’m sure he does suffer concussions.

And if he did, the team has to report it. That is, if the team even knows about it. And whereas no one in that league ever wants to come off the field, Brady is the extreme example. And going into concussion protocol means coming off the field. He knows that. So if he never says anything about the symptoms to the team, they can’t take him off the field. And now that she’s gone with that, he’ll probably stop telling her too.

As far as what the league does with this. Probably nothing. Sure, they’ll tell you they’re all over it, but considering they were all over the guy and the team for deflated footballs and considering how badly that went for them, I’m guessing the league isn’t going to come down hard on Brady or the Pats for something his wife said.
