Boomer Esiason on Peyton’s arm strength: ‘Weakest arm of all the 32 starting quarterbacks in NFL’

Former NFL MVP Boomer Esiason isn’t too worried about Peyton Manning’s struggles late in games this season. Manning will take on Andrew Luck and the Colts Sunday in Denver as he looks to advance to another AFC Championship.

“With Peyton it’s not about his arm,” Esiason said on The Jim Rome Show Friday. “It’s about his head, his heart, and his competitive desire.”

It’s hard not to notice the 38-year-old’s decline this season. Manning has not looked like the usual future Hall of Famer does, despite the team finding ways to win games.

“It doesn’t look like he’s comfortable, for whatever reason.”

Manning isn’t quite known for his arm strength, but does he have the worst arm in the league?

“He has the weakest arm of all the 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL,” said Esiason.

C.J. Anderson has taken the load off Manning. The undrafted rookie has emerged as the team’s top running back the last month.

“It’s also about his team knowing how important it is for them to run the football,” he said. “You have to take some of the pressure off the quarterback.”
